DevOps Manager
Reporting to the Sr Director of IT and DevOps, the DevOps Manager plays a critical role in leading infrastructure and delivery operations across multiple brands and product lines with diverse tech stacks. This is a technical management position with a hands-on focus on tooling, environments, automation, and observability. The ideal candidate will guide a team of DevOps engineers while collaborating with product, engineering, and IT leadership to deliver reliable, scalable infrastructure and streamlined deployment pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Personnel Leadership:
- Lead a team of DevOps engineers supporting multiple cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines, and incident response processes
- Mentor engineers on both their technical skills & knowledge alongside their communication & teamwork dynamics
- Project & Process Leadership:
- Lead agile ceremonies for core DevOps engineering teams including sprint-based planning, commitments, velocity and retrospectives
- Identify and drive investments in automation that shift work from senior engineers to junior operations engineers for continuous efficiency improvement
- Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to align deployment and SRE practices with agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
- Partner with engineering teams to improve deployment velocity, rollback safety, and environment parity
- Participate in incident response reviews and postmortems; help establish a culture of reliability and learning
- Support documentation, runbooks, and internal knowledge sharing via Jira and Confluence
- Technical Leadership:
- Guide and evolve infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform, Helm, and related tooling
- Drive containerization and Kubernetes orchestration best practices across brands and platforms
- Oversee observability tooling and alerting, including Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, PagerDuty, and Opsgenie
- Own operational standards for CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions and CircleCI
Requirements
- Process Leadership:
- Ability to lead an agile DevOps engineering process utilizing ticketing tools such as Atlassian JIRA to administer the process and make status transparent to stakeholders
- Ability to schedule repeated operational activities such as upgrades, maintenance windows, health checks and associated repeat ops tasks
- Defining an on-call schedule to engage personnel in the event of a severe emergency leveraging alerting tools such as PagerDuty, Opsgenie, etc
- Familiarity with GitHub, Jira, and Confluence in engineering team workflows
- Solid grasp of agile development methodologies and team operations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working across engineering and product teams
Technical Leadership:
- 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering roles, including 2+ years in a lead or managerial capacity.
- Proven experience managing and deploying Kubernetes workloads in production.
- Deep knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform, Helm, or equivalent).
- Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker), CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, CircleCI), and modern cloud deployment strategies.
- Proficiency with observability stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting multiple brands or business units across diverse tech stacks.
- Exposure to cloud-native security practices, RBAC, and secrets management.
- Familiarity with cost optimization and cloud spend reporting.
- Experience with incident command or formalized incident response frameworks.
- Comfortable scripting in Bash, Python, or Go for automation tasks.
- Prior involvement in DevOps maturity assessments, tooling selection, or team scaling.
