We're looking for an ambitious commercial leader who wants to become a CEO.
This role is ideal for a proven sales executive who has mastered revenue leadership and is ready to expand into broader business ownership across product, marketing, professional services, pricing, operations, and strategy.
As General Manager, you will lead a multi-product Developer Tools business with responsibility for revenue growth, profitability, and overall business performance. While this role carries full P&L accountability, success starts with exceptional sales leadership.
You will be expected to build a high-performance revenue organization, drive forecasting accuracy, improve pipeline predictability, personally engage in strategic deals, and create operating rigor across the business.
At the same time, you'll gain hands-on experience shaping product strategy, influencing roadmap decisions, directing marketing investments, optimizing professional services, and making the kinds of tradeoff decisions required of a future CEO.
This is not a role for someone who wants to manage from a distance. We are looking for a hands-on operator who enjoys inspecting pipeline, coaching sales teams, engaging customers, and driving execution throughout the organization.
Revenue growth is the most important responsibility in this role.
You will:
Lead and develop sales managers and individual contributors
Build a culture of accountability, execution, and continuous improvement
Drive rigorous pipeline management, deal inspection, and forecast accuracy
Establish operating discipline around:
Pipeline coverage
Pipeline quality
Opportunity progression
Conversion rates
Sales productivity
Forecasting and variance analysis
Personally participate in strategic opportunities and key customer relationships
Improve sales methodologies, qualification standards, and execution consistency
Own annual planning, territory design, quota setting, and capacity modeling
Drive predictable growth through both direct and partner-assisted sales motions
As General Manager, you will own overall business performance including:
Revenue growth
Profitability
Gross margin
Professional services performance
Customer retention and expansion
Forecast predictability
You will use data and financial analysis to identify the highest-impact opportunities for growth and operational improvement.
You will work closely with product and marketing leadership to:
Influence product roadmap priorities based on customer and market feedback
Improve product positioning and messaging
Evaluate market opportunities and growth initiatives
Optimize pricing, packaging, and monetization strategies
Identify new growth vectors across products, customer segments, and channels
7+ years of B2B software leadership experience
Significant experience leading sales organizations and managing frontline sales leaders
Demonstrated success building predictable revenue growth through disciplined sales management
Strong forecasting, pipeline management, and deal execution skills
Proven ability to recruit, coach, and develop high-performing teams
Experience working closely with product, marketing, and customer-facing functions
Strong analytical and financial acumen
Comfort operating with full accountability for business outcomes
Prior Regional/Territory, General Manager, Business Unit, or P&L ownership experience
Developer Tools, DevOps, Infrastructure Software, or Technical Product experience
Experience in private-equity-backed or highly metrics-driven organizations
Experience managing professional services organizations
Multi-product software portfolio experience
The strongest candidates are often:
VP Sales leaders ready for broader business ownership
CROs seeking their first GM role
Business Unit leaders with strong commercial instincts
Operators who aspire to become CEOs
You should enjoy both strategy and execution.
You should be comfortable discussing pricing strategy in one meeting and reviewing pipeline quality in the next.
You should be equally energized by coaching a sales manager, improving a product roadmap discussion, and presenting business performance to executive leadership.
Lead an established software business with meaningful scale
Own a full P&L and learn every aspect of operating a software company
Gain direct exposure to product, marketing, services, and strategy
Build the skills required to become a future CEO
Deliver measurable business impact with significant autonomy and accountability
