We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic, and experienced Tax Manager or Director to join our rapidly growing, highly profitable, multi-national software company.  Idera grows organically and inorganically through acquisitions, with additional acquisitions forthcoming.  Idera is owned by three of the premier private equity groups in the world.  Idera has best in class operating margins. The position will provide an excellent opportunity to lead the tax team with global reach at a high growth technology company going through a transformation in the industry. As a key interface for all tax activities around the world, this role will be key member of the finance leadership team at one of the largest and most profitable software companies in the country. 

The role is responsible for delivering value-added tax strategy, as well as working directly with our worldwide accounting team and service providers to execute on all things tax. In this highly visible role, you’ll partner with Big 4 firms, local service providers in multiple countries and the corporate finance team to work through all tax returns, provisions, transfer pricing, cash tax estimates and all other impacts related to tax. This position will report directly to the CFO and will play a managerial/supervisory role to a team of tax professionals and outside tax firms. The role will have three direct reports, including two tax seniors focused on domestic and international taxes as well as a sales tax professional. The position will be multi-disciplinary (e.g.,  international, federal) but will primarily focus on international tax research, planning, compliance, and direct and indirect audits. The position will require interaction and partnership with the corporate accounting group,Europe and Asia Accounting teams, treasury, legal and other business groups within Idera. The ideal candidate should have excellent management and analytical skills, motivation, and confidence to independently address issues.

  • Manage the indirect tax compliance function
  • Research and planning to minimize Idera’s cash taxes and effective tax rate  
  • Legal entity restructuring planning, optimization of worldwide tax structure  
  • Acquisition due diligence, planning, structuring and integration 
  • Management of Idera’s US foreign tax positions (FTCs, E&P, GILTI, FDII, etc.) and associated income tax accounting and compliance
  • US income tax audit/provision management and global tax audit monitoring  
  • Management of intercompany agreements  
  • Maintain knowledge of changing tax laws and regulations, identify and implement necessary changes
  • Determine jurisdictional nexus and that the Company is properly registered to do business in each jurisdiction.
  • Global management of transfer pricing planning and compliance  
  • Comply with federal, state and local requirements by studying jurisdictional documents and regulations; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.  
  • Track tax compliance to ensure timely filing of tax returns and payments, information reporting, and other taxing authority requirements 
  • Research and analyze tax issues, document and report conclusions 
  • Review and assist in preparation of federal and state income tax returns
  • Review and assist in preparation of domestic estimated tax payments 
  • Coordinate with external tax firms for the efficient delivery of services 
  • Perform assigned tax account reconciliations and follow up through researching, documenting and resolving exceptions. 
  • Maintain current professional and technical knowledge.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university or equivalent MST preferred, but not required. 
  • Seven plus years of related tax work experience, including progressive experience in federal and state/local tax compliance required 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required. 
  • Working knowledge of ProSystem fx Tax / CCH Axcess a plus. 
  • Working knowledge of Sage Intacct or other similar GL system a plus. 
  • Public accounting experience preferred.  
  • Partnership experience is a plus
  • Strong technical tax background; strong tax research and planning skills; strong compliance skills 
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and tax impacts to financial statements  
  • Strong supervisory skills; ability to effectively manage people  
  • Well organized; plans, organizes and monitors performance according to priorities  
  • Hardworking; willing to get into the details; strong analytical thinking  
  • Highly self-motivated; takes initiative; proactive; anticipates situations; identifies and addresses issues; accountable
  • Ability to transfer the application of tax theory to business situations and transactions  
  • Must possess analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Must possess strong research skills.   
  • Comfortable in making decisions and working independently. 
  • Confidentiality is a must. 
  • Comfortable working in an ever changing environment and ability to stay calm under pressure. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive relationships. 
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written and listening). 
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy a must.
